ABBOTT Tenor Ukulele (1936).
Abbott ukuleles are incredibly hard to find. This example is in stunning all-original condition and complete with it’s original made-to-measure hard shaped case. It is an example of the Abbott ‘OXFORD’ long scale tenor ukulele , styled from the Gibson Tenor ukulele of the same period. ‘Sunburst’ finish on body and neck. Straight neck & no wear to frets or to fingerboard. Great playing action & gorgeous sound. No cracks or splits whatsoever (the line on the back of the body in the top right-hand photograph is NOT a split or a crack). Etched onto the back of the body close to the heel is the signature of ‘Jack Abbott’, with 9/5/36 etched immediately beneath it. This is clear to see in real life but was very hard to photograph.

Binding around top and bottom of body plus pretty inlaid pattern around the sound hole. ‘The Gibson’ in silver on the peghead. Original vintage ‘Grover’ tuning pegs. No cracks on top or sides and just one very tight separation along the grain on the back that you struggle to see. Plays beautifully with that great vintage ‘Gibson’ sound.
