Pictured on the right is a Gibson UB-3 of around 1930. This example has ‘sunburst’ on the neck and resonator, but not on the body. It also has the ‘snowflake’ inlay on the fingerboard. It has the slighly later style Grover pegs. |

Pictured on the left is a rare ‘Big’ Gibson UB-3 of around 1930. This example has three dots on the fingerboard. It has the extended resonator with the diamond holed flange, but unlike the slightly larger UB-4 and UB-5 it has the same wooden hoop (pot) as the UB-2 and UB-3, although it has sixteen tension hooks, as against fourteen on the UB-2 and UB-3. As well as having the slightly later style Grover pegs, it also has the later style three thumb screws to secure the resonator. |

Pictured on the right is a another rare ‘Big’ Gibson UB-3 of around 1928. This example has the snowflake inlay on the fingerboard(although the inlay at the third fret is not original and was added by its previous owner). Again it has the extended resonator with the diamond holed flange, and again it shares the same wooden hoop (pot) as the UB-2 and UB-3. This example has the early style ‘Barrel’ Grover pegs and the earlier style four hexagonal shaped screws to secure the resonator. |
